Muncie...John F. Shockley, 85, former Jefferson Township resident, passed away Friday evening at Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie.He was born in Monroe Township, November 9, 1918, the son of William B. and Lavina Harman Shockley.He was a graduate of Cowan High School and was a 65 year member of Whitney Lodge #229 F & AM and a 50 year Past Master of the Lodge serving as master in 1953. He attended the Sulphur Springs United Church of Christ. He is Past Patron of Daleville OES. He was a 4-H Board member and received the Conservationist of the Year Award. He was on the Farmers Elevator Board gor over 30 years and served several years as its president.Survivors include his wife of 63 years: Bernice Marian Shockley of Muncie, 2 daughters: Judith Ann (Bill) Buntin of Muncie and the Honorable Judge Doris Lee (Jim) Shockley-Slemp of West Sacramento, CA, 2 sons: Dr. Paul (Suzanne) Shockley, DVM of Middletown and Jeffrey A.(Sheila) Shockley of Daleville, 2 sisters: Roxie Hamilton of Muncie and Mary (Bob) Johnson of Muncie, 11 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers, 1 sister, 1 son, and 1 grandson.Private Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at Ballard and Sons Funeral Home, 118 South 5th, Middletown, with Rev. James Behrendt and Rev. Marty Ballard officiating. Cremation will occur with burial at a later date at Tomlinson Cemetery in Muncie.Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday from 4-8 PM with Masonic service at 8:00 PM.Memorials may be made to the Salvation Army, the Whitney Lodge, or the American Red Cross.Online Guestbook is available at:
