John L. Rogers, 81, of Glendale, Arizona, passed away on Friday, May 8, 2015. John went peacefully to be with the Lord at his home with his wife at his side. He was born April 18, 1934, in Middletown, to Raymond and Lillian Rogers. He was a graduate of Middletown High School, served as a police officer in Anderson, and served his country as a U.S. Marine. John was an outstanding basketball player for Von Jamison's Cossacks; his senior year in 1953 the team went undefeated and set a scoring record in the New Castle Sectional, which gave Middletown statewide recognition by being the only school to have a perfect season. John went to Ball State University on a scholarship after high school. His memories are still talked about. Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Marguerite Rogers; four sons of Tucson, AZ, Jeff, Jon, Joey and Jamey Rogers; two grandchildren, Jake & Rebecca Rogers of Tucson, AZ; two step daughters; brother, Jim Rogers of Middletown; sister, Nancy Dickerson of Anderson; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister: Mary Dalzell A memorial service was held Thursday, May 21, at Desert Hills Evangelical Free Church, 3636 W. Greenway Rd., in Phoenix, AZ.
