Middletown...John Thomas Putnam, Sr., 67, resident of Middletown, passed away at his residence after an extended illness.He was born in Indianapolis, Indiana, June 6, 1938, the son of Norbert Joseph and Dorothy Catherine Sapp Putnam.He moved to Middletown in 1977 and was Past President of the Middletown Lions Club. He loved youth football and assisted in starting the Northside Indy Football League, and the Shenandoah Youth Football and coached in the CYO league.He was a member of St. Judes Catholic Church in Indianapolis.He had been Constable of Washington Township and worked for Western Electric as a pipefitter.He had owned and operated Precision Transmission in Anderson and Muncie since 1975 retiring in 2000.He was a US Army veteran serving in the 30 th inf, 3rd division in Germany.Survivors include his wife: Betty (Gardner) of Middletown, 2 sons: Steven of Chesterfield and Michel (Kim) Putnam of Indianapolis, 3 daughters: Shareen (John) Klasing of Chicago, Theresa Pritchard of Indianapolis, and Michelle (Jeffrey) Huff of Middletown, 3 additional children whom he raised: Kathy (Bill) Miller of Indianapolis, John (Mary) Harbor of Lebanon and Danny (Brenda) Harbor of Minnesota, 16 grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, 1 brother: James (mary) Putnam of Indianapolis and 2 sisters: Rita (Don) Kopernak of Indianapolis and Sandra (Bernie) Althoff of Brownsburg.He was preceded in death by his parents and 1 son: John Thomas Putnam, Jr and a brother: Norbert Joseph Putnam, Jr.Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am Monday at St. Judes Catholic Church in Indianapolis with prayer services at G.H. Herman Funeral Home at 9:15 am.Burial will follow at Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Indianapolis.Friends may call on Saturday from 3-8 PM at Ballard and Sons Funeral Home, 118 South 5th, Middletown and 3-8 Sunday at G. H.
