Springport...John William Pierce, 85, resident of Springport, passed away at Muncie Healthcare on Saturday morning.He was born in Delaware County, April 22, 1923, the son of Kenneth G. and Bertha Hofherr Pierce.He was a 1941 graduate of Daleville High School and a Navy Veteran of WW 2.He retired from Chrysler Corporation in New Castle in 1978.He was a member of the Raintree Woodworking Club, and the Springport Christian Church.He was a member of the UAW and loved to fish, hunt mushrooms, and work in the garden.Survivors include his wife of 63 years: Mary Lois (Painter) Pierce of Springport, 6 sons: Harry (Shirley) Pierce of Arvada, CO, David Pierce of Avon, William (Sharon) Pierce of Winchester, KY, Paul Pierce of Springport, John (Beverly) Pierce of Carmel, and Charles (Lori) Pierce of Knightstown, 6 grandchildren: Emily Pierce of Korea and Graham Pierce of Denver, CO, Chelsea and Ian Pierce of Carmel, Painter and Benjamin Pierce of Knightstown, 1 sister: Freda Franklin of Daleville.He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 sister: Edith Taylor and 1 brother: Harry Kenneth Pierce.Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 2:00 Pm at Ballard and Sons Funeral Home, 118 South 5th, Middletown with REv.
