John Thomas “Tom” Hurley, 54, of Muncie passed away Monday October 17, 2022, at Ball Memorial Hospital. He was born on June 13, 1968, in Indianapolis to J. Richard and Peggy (McKaig) Hurley.
Tom was a 1986 graduate of Yorktown High School and a 1990 graduate of Indiana University where he was a proud member of Phi Gamma Delta (FIJI) Fraternity. He went on to receive his law degree from the University of Dayton School of Law and subsequently was a practicing attorney for 25 years in east central Indiana.
He was a lifelong Cincinnati Reds fan, founding member of Aspen Beer Club, avid golfer, and lawn mower extraordinaire. Tom was a devoted husband, father, son, brother, friend, and public servant. That which he chose to do, he did well, and did with pride.
Tom is survived by his wife of 29 years, Erin Brenton Hurley; son, T. Quinn Hurley; father, Dick (Sherry) Hurley; sister, Bryn Soledad; parents-in-law, Bob and Suzie Brenton; sister and brother-in-law, Eden and Chris Jones; nieces, Natelie Soledad and Hayden Jones; along with numerous dear cousins in the Hurley, Shoemaker, Barbato, and Weis families.
Visitation will be Saturday October 22, 2022, from 10:00 am until 1:00 pm at Ballard and Sons Funeral Home Daleville Chapel. A private burial will take place at Elm Ridge Cemetery in Muncie.
