Greenwood....John Lee Fletcher, 84, resident of Middletown, passed away at Greenwood Meadows Nursing Home in Greenwood.He was born July 2, 1930, the son of John Ira and Etta Mae Cox Fletcher.He attended Westland Elementary School and attended Greenfield High School with graduation from Knightstown High School.He was a Korean Conflict veteran of the US Army in the Far East command serving as a Private First Class in the Post Office.He was Labor Manager for 7B PO, Yokohama, Japan and completed his basic training at Ft. Leonardwood, MO.He worked at Western Electric for 35 years, Hybrid Integrated Circuts and built telephones by hand.He built the first picture phone and se several specific phones for generals and presidents.He was a life member of the American Legion Post 216 in Knightstown and loved to play the piano at several bars for five years.He was an avid golfer.Survivors are his daughter: Jennifer Fletcher Dwyer (Mark) of Greenwood, 1 brother: Richard Fletcher of Wilkinson, 2 grandchildren; Noah and Hannah Dwyer.A celebration of life will take place on Thursday at 7:00 pm at Ballard and Sons Funeral Home, 118 South 5th, Middletown with Pastor Mark Dwyer officiating.Ashes will then be scattered at Valley View Golf Course in Middletown.Friends may call at the funeral home after 4:00 PM on Thursday.Memorials may be made to American Diabetes Association, American Heart Association or Valley View Golf Course on Fall Creek.Online Guestbook at:
