Joseph "Joe" Daniel McNeil, 41, of Middletown passed away Tuesday, April 26, 2022. He was born on September 26, 1980 in Anderson, IN a son of Thomas and Dianna (Clevenger) McNeil of Middletown.
Joe was a 1999 graduate of Shenandoah High School where he was all-state wrestler. He then went on to receive his bachelor's degree in business from Indiana Wesleyan University. Joe was employed as an engineer with Borg Warner for fifteen years.
Joe had a passion for powerlifting. He and his father enjoyed training together and competing in meets such as XPC and the Arnold Schwarzenegger. These meets were only for the elite and the best in the sport.
Joe was also passionate about his family. He loved spending time with his children. He enjoyed taking them fishing, riding the John Deere gator, swimming, playing video games and sitting out by the campfire. Joe always thought of them as his greatest accomplishment.
In addition to his parents, Joe is survived by his wife, Kelly McNeil of Greenfield; Joe's first wife and mother of his children, Chelsea McNeil; children, Tanner, Ryan, and Avery; sister, Heather (Brian) Lewis of Middletown; maternal grandmother, Dorothy Clevenger of Chesterfield; paternal grandfather, Donald McNeil of Middletown; nieces, Madeline, Kaitlyn, and Sydnee Lewis.
Joe was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Joseph Clevenger; paternal grandmother, Martha McNeil.
A memorial service in Joe's honor will be held at 11:00am Wednesday, May 4, 2022 at the Middletown Church of the Nazarene. Burial will follow at Miller Cemetery in Middletown. Visitation will be Tuesday, May 3 at the church from 4:00pm-8:00pm. Memorial contributions may be given to Joe's Kids Trust Fund c/o First Merchant Bank. Envelopes will be available at the church.
