New Castle...Joe Dee Manis, 76, passed away April 22, 2021 at his residence in New Castle.
He was born August 4, 1944 in Anderson, the son of Ivan and Mildred "Bibs" Manis. He was a 1962 Middletown High School graduate. He was employed by GM Guide Delphi for 40 years as a factory worker and General Supervisor in Anderson. He was an avid Indiana University basketball fan and had season tickets for many years.
He is survivied by his wife Jill "Campbell" Manis, three daughters, Jodi (David) Hamm, Julie (Bill) Hohlt and Janis (Billy) Walker, grandchildren: Chase (Whitney) Criswell, Cory (Sabrina) Criswell, Alli Criswell, Abbi Criswell, Ivy Walker, Sophie Walker, Kindle Hohlt, Will Hohlt, Luke (Amanda) Hamm, Dylan (Kirstyn) Hamm, great grandchildren: Caleb Criswell, Tinley Criswell-Burdge, and Ruthie Hamm. Also a brother Jerry (Beverly) Manis, sister Joyce (Larry) Hanson, brother-in-law Jack (Nancy) Campbell and several nieces and nephews.
Joe was a member of the Masonic Lodge #271 of Middletown for over 50 years and a 50 Year member of the Knights Templar of Anderson Commandery #32, also Anderson Council #69, order of the Eastern Star #110, Middletown Sons of the American Legion #216 and the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame. He was also a member of the Cadiz Christian Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his maternal and paternal grandparents, a nephew Jeff Campbell and a son Jay.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 12:00 PM at the Cadiz Christian Church, April 27, 2021 with Pastor Jeff Johnson officiating. Burial with Masonic rites will follow at Miller Cemetery, Middletown.
Friends may call on Tuesday from 10:00 am until the time of the service.
