Alexandria...Joe William Blackmer, 78, resident of rural Alexandria, passed away on Tuesday morning at his residence.He was born in Muncie, November 23, 1926, the son of Harvey and Evelyn Daily Blackmer.He had been plant superintendent for Rock-Wool Inulation Company and actually started plants in Texas and Missouri. He was a WW 2 veteran of WW 2 serving in the US Army as Sargent in the Pacific Theatre.He was a member of the Daleville American Legion and served as Finance Officer. He was a former member of the Eagles Lodge of Alexandria.He had been preceded in death by his first wife Beverly Blackmer in 1986 and 1 brother: Robert Blackmer.Survivors include his wife: Virginia E. Parrish-Norris-Blackmer of Alexandria, 1 daughter: Eloise (Don) Ertle of Missouri and 2 sons: Joseph M. (Carol) Blackmer of Phoenix, AZ and Walter ""Butch"" (Janet) Blackmer of Muncie, step son: David (Linda) Norris of Burkesville, KY, 1 sister: Velma Blackmer of Yorktown, 1 daughter in law: Nancy Blackmer of Utah, 8 grandchildren, several great and great great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.Funeral services will be held at 12:00 Noon on Friday at Ballard and Sons Funeral Home, 8212 South Walnut Street, Daleville, with Pastor Carl Goad officiating.Cremation will follow.Friends may call at the fuenral home on Friday from 10:00 am until the time of the services.Online Guestbook is available at:
