Daleville... Jerry E. Golden, 76, resident of Daleville, passed away April 24,2018 at his home in Daleville. He was born July 18, 1941, the son of Donald and Thelma (Coy) Golden.
He was a 1959 graduate of Dayton High School in Dayton, Indiana. He attended Ball State and majored in education.
He became a police officer for The Delaware County Sheriff's Department where he spent 31 years, from 1965-1996 and retired as a Lieutenant. He also served in the prosecutors office. He was the Communications Director for Delaware County Emergency Operations Center for 911 Dispatch. He served as a Deputy for the Yorktown Police Department where he attained leadership roles as Lieutenant and Sergeant. He also served Delaware County as a Deputy Corner for many years.
He was Co-owner of Golden Touch Cleaning Service with his wife Ann (Stafford) Golden. He enjoyed many years working at Anderson Speedway where he provided security for many races. He also worked for Ross Super Markets where he also provided security. He spent many years volunteering within the community. He was a member of Salem Township EMS/Fire Department where he served the citizens of Daleville for many years.
He was a member of the Riverside United Methodist Church in Muncie and was an honorary member of the Daleville Christian Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents and father-in-law Ron Stafford.
Survivors include his Wife Ann (Stafford) Golden whom he married June 6, 1986, Sister: Sharon Cooper (Orange County Florida) Children: Jay Golden (Tricia) of Muncie, Tim Golden of Muncie, Brad Golden (Jamie Burris) of Daleville, Jeremy Golden of Texas, and Marcy Morgan, Grandchildren: Faith Golden (James Oldham),Kate Golden, Samantha Gephart (Jack) and Morgan Hunt.
A Celebration of his life will be held Tuesday May 1 at 12:00 pm at Ballard and Sons Funeral Home, 8212 South Walnut St. Daleville, Indiana 47334.
Friends may call on Tuesday May 1 from 10 am- 12pm.
