Jeanne Elizabeth Phillips Woolsey, 91, of Daleville, Indiana was born June 8, 1930, in Rushville, Indiana to Paul Murray Phillips and Gladys (Wallace) Phillips.
After the death of her mother, when she was only 8 years old, Jeanne was raised and educated by her uncle, David Shields and his wife Margaret in Linton, Indiana. She has always been forever grateful to David and Margaret for raising her as their own.
Jeanne learned to work at an early age. Her first job when she was only 10 years old was delivering newspapers in rural Linton on her pony, Cricket. During high school she worked at G.C. Murphey in Linton.
After graduating from Linton High School in 1947, she attended Indiana University Business School earning a bachelor's degree in business graduating in 1952. While attending IU she worked for Indiana Bell and Pfizer.
After graduation, her first job was with Marshall Field & Company as a merchandising trainee in Chicago, Illinois. Longing to get back to southern Indiana she began working in Crane, Indiana at the Crane Ammunition Depot. True to her top-secret clearance, all we know is she did secretarial work for some scientist.
May 28, 1955, Jeanne married the love of her life Max Mason Woolsey from Linton, and they started their family having two sons Bill Woolsey of Tallmadge, Ohio and David Woolsey of Holland, Michigan.
When the family moved to Daleville, Indiana Jeanne went on to earn her teaching license and a master's degree from Ball State University. She began first teaching business education at Daleville High School for two years and then went on to teach business education at Anderson High School in Anderson, Indiana where she retired after 25 years.
Jeanne was a member of the Chesterfield Christian Church, Ruth Circle and AHS 1301 Club. She enjoyed camping, fishing, traveling with her family and was the biggest and best cheerleader for her two sons.
On Wednesday April 13, 2022, our beloved mother joined her husband and our father in the hands of our lord and is going to be greatly missed by her loving family and those that knew her.
Jeanne was preceded in death by both her parents, foster parents, and her loving husband of 67 years. Her sister, Lou Ann Wolford of Madisonville, Kentucky and her cousin, Mary Louise Lamb of Tampa, Florida.
She is survived by her two sons, two nephews, Jim and Mike Wolford and numerous nephews, and nieces.
