Mt. Summit.....Janice Louise (Thalls) Jones, 84, resident of Mt. Summit, died Friday afternoon in New Castle, after a brief illness. She was born in Richmond, November 1, 1917, the daughter of Pearl Edward and Georgia Mae Gilbert Thalls.She was a graduate of the Richmond High School and had been a cook for several years at the former Sulphur Springs School in Shenandoah School Systems. She lived in Mt. Summit for 11 years moving from Lake Wells Florida where she had lived for 21 years. She had previously lived in Sulphur Springs, Indiana. She attended the Luray Church of the Nazarene.Survivors are her husband of 38 years: Donald Eugene of Mt. Summit, 4 daughters: Paula Nyberg of San Jose, California, Linda (Rick) Egan of New Castle, Risa (Patrick McAllister) Jones of Mt. Summit, Cheryl (John) Jackson of Newcastle, Washington, and 1 son: Ronnie (Diane) Hinesley of Sulphur Springs, 8 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, and 3 great great grandchildren, 1 brother: Richard Thalls of Richmond, 2 Sisters: Georgetta Duffin of Milton and Anita Goodwin of Carthage, several nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by a son: Trenton Jones in 1973 and 3 brothers and 3 sisters.Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 2:00 PM at Ballard and Sons Funeral Home, 118 South 5th, Middletown, with Rev. Randy Gross officiating.A dove release memorial service will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in Springport.Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 7-9 and one hour before the services on Wednesday.Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Diabetes Association.Online condolences to the family, may be made at:
