Janet Marilyn (Ritchie) Chapman, 86, resident of rural Middletown, passed away June 30, 2017 at her residence. She was born in Middletown, May 19, 1931, the daughter of Joseph Weeks and Irene Viola (Harter) Ritchie. She was a 1949 graduate of Sulphur Springs High School and graduated from Indiana Business College in Muncie. She was a member of the Upper Fall Creek Church of the Brethren and Rekamemoh Home Economics Club. She also served as a Boy Scout den mother many years ago. Janet was a homemaker her entire life. She ran an egg business for many years. She loved and enjoyed her family, and especially enjoyed family gatherings. A favorite past time of Janet's was spending time outdoors and watching her family involved in farming. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers: Wayne and Joe Ritchie, and a granddaughter, Sarah. She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Bill, of Middletown, two sons: Tim Chapman (Brenda) of Springport and J.B. Chapman (Paula) of Middletown; two daughters: Tricia Yost (Terry) and Dawn Neal (Ray) of Middletown; 10 grandchildren: Matthew (Brianna) Chapman, Jacob Chapman, Kylee (Andrew) Eller, Chris (Abbie) Fellers, Heather Neal, Alicia (Daniel) Hanson, Evan Neal, Miranda (Chase) Heinold, Megan Chapman, and Daniel Chapman; nine great grandchildren and two sister in laws: Barbara Ritchie and Judith Ritchie of Middletown; several nieces and nephews. The funeral will be held on Friday at 2:00 PM at Ballard and Sons Funeral Home, 118 South 5th, Middletown, with Pastor Dennis Hilton officiating. Burial will follow in Miller Cemetery, Middletown.
