Middletown...James Dewey Williams, 75, went home to be with the Lord November 30, 2016 at his sister's home after a long battle with cancer.He was born, the ninth of 10 children to Charles and Goldie Williams, September 3, 1941 in Middletown at home.He attended Middletown Schools and joined the US Army October 1960. He served in Korea and Kaiserslautern, Germany during Dessert Storm.He served with the 138th Signal Battalion of the Indiana National Guard as Chief of the Motor Pool in Anderson. He retired as a CW3 in January of 1997 after 36 years of service.He served as commander of the Middletown American Legion Post 216 where he was a life member. He was a life member of the VFW 266 in Anderson and was an avid golfer and Nascar fan.He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers: Herschel, Cliff, Donald and Douglas and sisters: Helen, Wilma and Wanda.Survivors are his wife of 50 years: Kathy (Fields) of Middletown, sons: Trent and Dane (Melissa) Williams and daughter: Leah (Keith) Austin, 8 grandchildren: Zachary, MacKenzie and Justin Williams, Adrian and Mason Graham, Katelyn (Steven) Wilson, Dalton Austin and Zoie Watson, 2 great grandchildren: Rylan Williams and Kyndall Wilson, siblings: Eugene L. Williams and Mildred A. Kimball.A Celebration of his life will be held on Monday at 5:00 PM at Ballard and Sons Funeral Home, 118 South 5th, Middletown with Marty Ballard officiating.Friends may call from 3-5 PM on Monday at the funeral home.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the St. Jude's Children's Hospital or the Middletown Food Pantry.Online Guestbook at:
