James ""Jim"" G. Shoemaker, 83, lifetime Daleville resident, passed away with his family by his side at Miller's Merry Manor in Middletown on Friday, March 31, 2017. Jim was born in Daleville on June 23, 1933 to the late John Shoemaker and Jane Walker Fernald. He was a 1953 graduate of Daleville High School and owned and operated Jim Shoemaker Services for 39 years. Previously he had worked for Shumaker Electric in Daleville for 20 years. Jim was a member of Daleville Christian Church and the Anderson Elks Club BPOE #209.He will be greatly missed by his wife of 58 years, Joyce DeHaven Shoemaker; 2 children, Jamalyn ""Jamie"" Seelye (Rodney) Indianapolis, and Jeffrey V. Shoemaker (Kathy) Daleville; 2 grandchildren, Lex Shoemaker, Richmond and Alena Seelye, Indianapolis; 1 great-grandchild, Mila Shoemaker; one brother, David V. Shoemaker, Anderson; several nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents.Services to celebrate Jim's life will be held at Daleville Christian Church, 14220 W. Daleville Rd. Daleville, at 4:00 PM on Monday, April 3, 2017 with Pastor Gary McManus officiating. Burial will follow at Saunders Cemetery.
