Daleville...James L. Mowrey, 79, resident of the Middletown/Daleville area, passed away May 15, 2006 at Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie.He was born in Middletown, December 1, 1926, the son of Ralph and Anna Nelson Mowrey.He served in the US Navy during WW 2.He retired from Delco Remy Plant 17 in 1979 where he had been a toolmaker. He also owned D and J Cycles in Daleville for many years. He loved radio controlled model airplanes, bowling, and was a lifetime member of the Crossroads Lutheran Church.He taught woodworking at Ivy Tech from 1980 until 1993.He is survived by his wife of 57 years: Doris (Marshall) of Daleville, 1 son: David K. (Florence) Mowrey of Daleville, 2 daughters: Beth (Ev) Schafer of Denver, CO and Sheila Grimes of Daleville, grandchildren: David L Mowrey of Chicago, Brandon Mowrey of Denver, CO, Stephen, Kathryn, and Jonathan Mowrey of Daleville, Tim Schafer and Christy Schafer and a great grandson: Jacob Tyler Stout, brothers: Ted (Bertie) Mowrey of Daleville, Dan (Lynn) Mowrey of Evansville, sister: Phyllis Miller of North Webster and several nieces and nephews.Funeral services will be held on Friday at 2:00 PM at the Crossroads Lutheran Church near Daleville with Rev. Marty Ballard officiating.Burial will follow at Miller Cemetery in Middletown.Friends may call at the Ballard and Sons Funeral Home, 118 South 5th, MIDDLETOWN on Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM.Memorial contributions may be made to the Crossroads Lutheran Church Historical Preservation Society.Online Guestbook at:
