Daleville....James Wilson ""Woody"" Hurley, 81, resident of Daleville, died unexpectedly at his home on Wednesday evening.He was born in Daleville, September 3, 1923, the son of Berryman and Beulah Fenwick Hurley. He attended Daleville High School and was a WW 2 Navy veteran serving as Fireman 1st Class.He worked as a Diesel Mechanic for Marhoffer Company for 17 years and for T B & P (Metro Leasing) in Daleville for several years.He loved gardening and flowers. He was a member of the Daleville American Legion and the Full Gospel Temple of Muncie. He was also a member of the Marhoffer Sympathy Club.Survivors include his wife of 58 years: Mary Jeannette (Smith) of Daleville, 2 daughters: Judy Wicker of Muncie and Marilyn Gilliand (Donald) of Noblesville, 2 sons: James M. Hurley (Joan) of Sellersburg and Robert A. Hurley (Samantha) of Daleville, 12 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, 2 nieces and 1 nephew, 1 sister: June Shuemaker of Daleville.Funeral services will be Sunday at 2:00 PM at Ballard and Sons Funeral Home, 8212 South Walnut St., Daleville with Pastors Denny Helton and Karen Ottjes officiating.Burial will follow in Saunders Cemetery in Daleville.Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM.Memorials to the Salem Township Volunteer Fire Department and EMS.Online Guestbook is available at:
