James Arnold Holmes, 76, Markleville, died June 26, 2002, at his residence. He was born August 2, 1925 in Middletown, the son of Guy and Gertrude Woodmore Holmes. He was a 1943 graduate of Middletown High School. He retired in 1987 after 23 1/2 years at Delco Remy in Anderson where he worked in the starter repair department. He was a US Navy veteran of World War 2. He had lived in the Markleville area since 1948 and was active in the Boys Scouts. He attended the Markleville United Methodist Church. Survivors include his wife of 52 years: Rose Holmes of Markleville, 2 sons: Sam (Lois) Holmes of Anderson and John (Jane) Holmes of Markleville, a grandaughter; Alison Holmes of Markleville, 4 step grandchildren; Teresa Nyboer of Anderson, Tami (Jeff) Stoaks of Indianapolis, Su Brown of Anderson and Shawn (Ambur) Garris of Anderson, 10 great grandchildren, 1 brother; Robert (June) Holmes of Deputy and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on SAturday at Ballard and Sons Funeral Home, 118 South 5th, Middletown, with Pastor Susan Poynter officiating. Burial will follow in McCRay Cemetery in Wilkinson. Visistation will be from noon until the time of the services on Saturday at the funeral home.
