James W. Findling

Muncie...James W. Findling, 89, resident of Muncie, passed away early Tuesday morning.He was born in Tipton, Indiana, October 14, 1916, the son of Francis Clyde and Arlien Boyer Findling.He was a 1933 graduate of Daleville High School and a 1939 graduate of Ball State Teachers College receiving bachelor degrees in teaching, business education, math and physics.He taught school in Sheridan Indiana from 1939 until 1941 and served in the US Navy as a lieutenant in WW 2 from 1941-1949. He attended officers training school in Annapolis, MD.He married Philomena Carnevale on March 17, 1948. She preceded him in death on December 17, 1999.He moved to Delaware County in 1949 and began farming with his father until his retirement.He served on the Salem TWP School Board of Trustees from 1982-1990 and also on the Saunders Cemetery Board of Directors.Survivors include his children: James W. Findling, Jr., MD of Mequon, WI, Mary A. (John Hart) Findling of Indianapolis, Mark A. (Angela S.)Findling of Daleville, and Meg (Brad) Pahmier of Ft. Wayne, grandchildren: Theodore, Jason, and Patrick Findling of Mequon, WI, Mark Findling of Muncie, Megan and Aaron Pahmier of Chicago, stepgrandchildren: Kyle and Adam Meredith of Indianapolis, 2 sisters: Joanna Brumfiel of Ann Arbor, MI and Harriet Shearer of Paxton, IL.Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters: Margaret Macnamara and Mary Johnson and one brother: John Findling.Private services will be held at Ballard and Sons Funeral Home, 8212 South Walnut Street, Daleville with Rev. Robert Kellems officiating.Burial will be in Saunders Cemetery in Daleville.Public viewing will be held on Friday from 5-8 PM at the funeral home in Daleville.In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the James W.
