Jack Lee Dietz

Jack Lee Dietz, 47, of Akron, Ohio, formerly of Daleville, IN, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday September 14, 2024, while away on a trip. He was born in Anderson, IN on October 25, 1976, to Steven and Mary Dietz.

He graduated from Shenandoah High School in 1995, where he earned a 2-year vocational degree in Horticulture. Jack was active in the FFA and the high school band. He was a master of the clarinet. Jack also attended Indiana Wesleyan University and earned his Master's in Strategic Leadership and Business Analytics.

Jack was a member of Salem Township Fire Department and served the Daleville community from July 1995 until 2015. During that time, he achieved the rank of Lieutenant in 2005 and Assistant Chief in 2009. He earned his lifetime membership on August 1, 2012. During his time on the department, Jack responded to 2,145 emergency calls.

Jack was the best dad. He was completely devoted to his daughters, Sammy and Abby. He was involved in all of their activities. Jack coached his daughter’s basketball and softball teams, for all of their lives. Jack was well known and loved by many local families and enjoyed being a Bonus Dad to many.

He worked for Koorsen Fire Protection for more than 15 years and continued to work in the fire suppression industry for many more years. In 2018, he launched Dietzman Brands LLC, as owner and CEO, a business
Jack continued until his passing. He was an avid gardener throughout his life. Jack was proud of the produce he grew and was known for selling his produce at local Farmer’s Markets in Akron. He was an avid Homesteader and was establishing his own homestead at the time of his passing. Jack was an incredible handyman and enjoyed repairing old homes. There wasn’t anything Jack couldn’t fix.

Jack is survived by his daughters, Abby Dietz of Akron, OH and Samantha “Sammy” Gilland of Akron, OH; brother, John (Fiancée Alisha Morrow) Dietz of Losantville, IN; sister, Joy (Jeremy) DeWalt of Muncie, IN; the mother of his children, Brandi Gilland; aunts, Donna (Irvan) Plummer of Augusta, GA and Carolyn Haskett of Anderson, IN; uncle, Tom (Dee) Dietz of Anderson, IN; along with several nieces, nephews and many cousins; special friend, Jan Whitsel.

In addition to his parents, Jack is preceded in death by grandparents, Jack and Joan Dietz, LeRoy and Earnesteen Haskett; several uncles; aunt, Peggy Mae Muterspaugh; cousin, William “Bill” Haskett.
Per Jacks wishes there will be no funeral services. A Celebration of Life will be announced soon. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Ballard and Sons Funeral Home 8212 S. Walnut St. Daleville, IN 47334 to assist with Jacks arrangements.
