Jack P. Casstevens, 82, of rural Middletown passed away at his home on Saturday, May 18, 2013 following a brief illness.Jack was born April 12, 1931 in Indianapolis. Jack was a lifetime resident of Middletown. He graduated from Middletown High School in 1950. He was a United States Marine Corp. Sgt. serving during the Korean War as a Field Radio Operator. He was a member of the DOG 7 Association D Company, 2nd Battalion, 7th and 1st Marine Divisions, and the Fleet Marine Force. He was also a member of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars.Jack was a Electrician and Maintenance Supervisor for Delco Remy for 37 years, retiring in 1986. Jack loved to play golf at Valley View and Tri-County golf courses; but most of all he loved to watch his grandchildren play sports.Jack is survived by his loving wife, Berneda, otherwise known as ""Fred"" (Stokes) Casstevens; their three children, LeAnn West (huband Jeff) of Indianapolis, Wendy Riggs (husband Keith) of New Castle, and Jim Casstevens (wife Hilary) of Middletown; four grandchildren, Dustin Riggs, Kelsey Riggs, Jarren Casstevens, and Collin Casstevens; and a great-grandson, Caiden Riggs.Jack was preceded in death by his mother, Dorothy Jameson Brown; father-in-law, James Stokes; mother-in-law, Thelma Stokes, and a son-in-law, Keith Riggs.A funeral service to celebrate Jack's life will be 10:00 am Thursday, May 23, 2013 at Ballard and Sons Funeral Home, 118 S. 5th St., Middletown with Rev. Marty Ballard officiating.
