I. Leon Calvert

I. Leon Calvert, 97, Daleville, passed away on Saturday morning, September 3, 2016 at Bethel Pointe Health and Rehabilitation Center in Muncie. He was born in Trafalgar, IN on March 19, 1919 to the late Riley O. and Hester E. (Mitchell) Calvert. Leon was a 1937 graduate of Center Grove High School in Johnson County. He married Marie E. Smith on April 27, 1941 and Virginia Ratz December 6,2003. He was a member of Daleville United Methodist Church, past president of the Indiana and Muncie Home Builders Associations and a member of the National Association Home Builders, Daleville Masonic Lodge and Indianapolis Murat Shrine Horse Patrol. In previous years, Leon and his father, Riley, owned and operated Calvert Canning Factory in Daleville. He is survived by his wife of 13 years, Virginia (Ratz) Calvert, Carolyn Futrell (Robert) Yorktown; Brent Calvert (Cheri) Fishers; Teresa Lutrell (Eric), David Brockman, grandchildren Sherri Carunchia (Mike), Barbie Durham (Brian), Kim Green (Barry), Stephanie Cunningham (Brian) , Steve Calvert, Jacquie Schroedle (Pete), Kahla Grace (Ryan), Nichole Lutrell, Ben Lutrell (Jenny), Sara Chance (Eric), Anna Brockman. 30 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by first wife, Marie , grandson David Allen Hahn, daughter Marta Goodpaster and two sisters, Lois Wagner and Leah Verne Lux.A Celebration of Leon's life will be held at Daleville United Methodist Church at 1:00PM Thursday, September 8, 2016 with Pastor Tim Glidden officiating. Burial will follow at Elm Ridge Memorial Park. Visitation is from 11:00AM till 1:00 PM at the church on Thursday.
