Middletown...Howard Benton Painter 94, resident of Middletown passed away May 21, 2021 at St. Vincent's Regional Hospital in Anderson. This is also the day of his anniversary of his marriage to his late wife Gertrude.
He was born In Claiborne, TN, November 20, 1926 the son of Thomas Benton and Roxy Cook Painter. He retired in 1991 from Ingersoll Steel Corporation in New Castle.
He lived in Middletown since 1955 and was a boy scout leader, Little League coach and loved to garden. He played the banjo and was in several bands. He made birds houses and loved cutting fire wood. His passion was bowling and played on several bowling leagues.
He is survived by four sons Charles (Dorothy) Painter of Paint Lick, KY, Danny (Roxanne) Painter of Middletown, Gary (Beverly) Painter of Middletown and Mark Painter of Kathleen, GA. 9 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Gertrude, granddaughter Teri Painter and great granddaughter Macy.
A private service will be held at Ballard and Sons Funeral Home, 118 South 5th, Middletown with burial at Miller Cemetery.
