Muncie...Howard A. Donovan, 81, resident of Muncie, passed away at The Waters in Yorktown after an extended illness.He was born in Delaware County, April 30, 1926, the son of Ernest and Lois Weaver Donovan. He attended Yorktown High School and retired from Borg Warner in 1987 after 43 years as a gear cutter.He was a decorated WW 2 veteran of the US Army receiving the bronze star.He was a member of the Daleville Masonic Lodge #730, VFW #651 of Muncie, the Indiana and the Muncie Bowling Hall of Fame, the Anderson Bowling Hall of Fame as well as the Delaware County Athletic Hall of Fame.He was past president of the Muncie Bowling Association and the Borg Warner Sympathy Club.He is survived by his wife of 63 years: Ellen (Griffis) of Muncie, sons: Denny Donovan (Sandy) of Daleville and Barry ""Bart"" Donovan (Julie) of Daleville and Mick Donovan (June) of Middletown, grandchildren: Brett, Scott, Christina, Katlin, Greg, and Brian, 1 1/2 sister: Bertie Nichols of Yorktown, and 1 great grandson: Nolan, several nieces and nephews.Masonic, Military and funeral services will be held at 12:30 Saturday at Ballard and Sons Funeral Home, 8212 South Walnut Street, Daleville with Dr. James Harless officiating.Burial will follow at Saunders Cemetery east of Daleville.Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday from 10:30 until the time of the services.Memorials may be made to the Marion Veterans Hospital through the funeral home.Online Guestbook at:
