DALEVILLE... Harriett L. Orebaugh, 88, of Daleville passed away on Sunday, September 20, 2015 at St. Vincent Anderson Regional Hospital in Anderson. She was born on October 10th, 1926, to Edmund Harman and Helen Harman Wilson. She graduated from Center High School in 1944.Growing up as a ""city"" girl didn't stop her from marrying a hard-working farmer, Edward Orebaugh, on Halloween, October 31st, 1944. Both loved the costumes and masks of that holiday. Harriett took to her role as a traditional farm wife and became a hard-working farmer, as well, working side-by-side with Ed on their dairy and hog farm. Harriett continued to farm with her son and grandson until her death.Of course, there always was a homemade meal for the family. Harriett could make the best pies and ginger cookies... blue ribbon winners at any fair! Precious time was spent at her sewing machine making one-of-a kind quilts, wall hangings, and clothing. Harriett was an accomplished seamstress. When friends were around, she enjoyed playing games. Her camping group would often play board games. As the grandchildren got older, Harriett treasured the time to watch them show their livestock projects at the county fair. All she needed was a comfy chair, and she was set to watch the judging. Ed and Harriett were blessed with three children. There are two sons, Roger (Sharon) Orebaugh of Anderson and Allan (Melinda) Orebaugh of Holmen, Wisconsin. Their daughter is Alice Butler of St. Augustine, Florida. Six grandchildren were another blessing: Jenni (Greg) Alderman, Carlyn (James) Strangeway, Brian (Lori Real) Orebaugh, Lesley (Chris) Hobbs, Aaron (Raeanne) Orebaugh, and Caleb (Kara Good) Orebaugh. There are four great grandchildren and seven step great grandchildren. Harriett took pride in being an outstanding wife, mother, grandmother, and friend to many.Along with her parents, Harriett was preceded in death by her husband, Ed, and brothers Don and Bill Harman and sister, Grace Harman. Surviving siblings are Rita Wesley, Bob (Jaye Kaye) Wilson, and Jack (Susan) Wilson.Funeral services to celebrate Harriett's life will be held Saturday, September 26th at Ballard and Sons Funeral Home, 8212 South Walnut Street, Daleville at 11:00 am.
