Middletown...Harlan Egan, 80, resident of Middletown, died November 11, 2004 at Henry County Memorial Hospital in New Castle.He was born in Des Moines, Iowa, August 24, 1924, the son of Harry and Eathel (Young) Egan. He was a US Army Veteran serving in WW 2 and was a member of the US Army Band playing the trombone.He was a video engineer for NBC and worked for Group W Cable telecommunications at Ball State University. He also had worked at Advance Auto Parts in New CAstle.He was a member of the National Aircraft owners and pilots association and attended electronic engineering school in Kansas City, MO.He was a member of the Masonic Lodge of Reseda, CA and a 50 year member of the First Presbyterian Church of New Castle where he had been sound engineer for many years. He had also served as trustee of the church.He was a graduate of Theodore Roosevelt High School in Des Moines, Iowa and had lived in the Middletown area for over 13 years.Survivors include 1 daughter: Paula Tremba (Randy) of Shepardstown, W. Va., and 1 son: Barry Egan (Monica) of Rocklin, CA, his companion: Ester Kiester of Middletown, 1 sister: Helen Johnson (Roy) of Des Moines, Iowa, 12 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild and 1 niece and 2 nephews.Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 10:00 am at first Presbyterian Church in New CAstle with Pastor Carolyn Raffensperger officiating.Burial will follow in Green Hills Memory Gardens in New Castle.Friends may call on Wednesday from 5-8 PM at Ballard and Sons Funeral Home, 118 South 5th, Middletown, IN.Memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian Church, 1202 Church Street, New Castle, IN 47362.Online Guestbook is available at: www.ballardandsons.com
