Glenn Franklin Powers, 96, of Anderson passed away Monday, December 11, 2023 at his residence
surrounded by his wife and children. He was born in Delaware County, IN a son of the late Jesse and
Dolores (Ritchie) Powers.
Resilient, hardworking and known to have a good outlook on life sums up how Glenn lived his life. He
grew up during the Great Depression and survived Polio he contracted at the age of 10 years old.
Although the Polio caused him challenges in life, he never let that get him down or stop him from living
life to the fullest; he was stronger on the inside than he may have appeared to others on the outside. He
was a hard worker and believed in completing tasks right the first time; Glenn was known to be a
perfectionist.
Glenn retired at the age of 85 years old from Edgewood County Club following over 30 years of service.
Along with his brother, Gerald, Glenn also farmed his parent’s farm in the Honey Creek area for many
years. He loved to work in the yard and garden. Glenn had a love for planting trees and caring for them.
He planted a wide variety of trees over the years with Walnut, Coffee, Pine and Cedar being some
examples.
Glenn was a fan of many sports, he enjoyed going to High School and Little League Baseball games,
especially when his children and grandchildren were involved. Walking into his home you would often
find some kind of sporting event playing on the television.
Over the years Glenn attended First Baptist Church and Trinity Community Church both located in
Daleville and most recently attended the Parkview Wesleyan Church in Anderson. He was a 1945
graduate of Sulphur Springs High School.
Glenn is survived by his wife of 46 years, Karen (Rinker) Powers of Anderson; children, Leila (Mark) Hiatt
of Pendleton and Thomas (Krysta) Powers of Marion, VA; grandchildren, Lucas Mitchell of Noblesville,
