Glen Earl Franklin

Yorktown...Glen Earl Franklin, 92, resident of Yorktown, passed away at his residence on December 2, 2016.He was born in Daleville, February 29, 1924 the son of Homer and Nellie Pugsley Franklin.He was a 1943 graduate of Daleville High School and was employed by General Motors, Dept 755 Tool Room at Delco Remy retiring in 1987 after 41 1/2 years of service.He was also a school bus driver Daleville Community Schools for 30 1/2 years and was a 50 year member of the Daleville masonic Lodge F & AM #730. He was a member of the UAW 662 and the Daleville United Methodist Church.He was a US Navy Veteran of WW 2. He was a gunner aboard Merchant marine ships and crossed the Pacific Ocean 8 times. He crossed the Indian Ocean four times aboard the oil tanker, M.S. Texas Sun. He celebrated his birthday twice on leap year crossing the International dateline in 1944.His decorations include: American Campaign Medal, Asiatic Pacific Campaign, European-African Mid East Medal and the WW 2 Victory medal.Survivors are his wife: Donna Mae Nelson Franklin of Yorktown, 3 children: Jeff Franklin of St. Louis, Karen Franklin of Kokomo and Denise (Rick) McCrocklin of Daleville, 5 grandchildren: Jennifer (Bob Timmerberg), Josh, Melissa (Nate Collins) Dustin and Elizabeth, 3 great grandchildren: Jordan, Eli and Braxton, several nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents and four siblings.A Celebration of his life will be held on Wednesday at 11:00 am atBallard and Sons Funeral Home, 8212 South Walnut Street, Daleville with Pastors Glenn Perkins and Marty Ballard officiating.Burial will follow in Tomlinson Cemetery, Muncie.Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 4-8 PM.Online Guestbook at: www.ballardandsons.comThe Ballard family is honored to celebrate the life of Glen with family and friends.
