Gertrude ""Cate"" Painter, age 81, a resident of the Middletown area since 1955, passed away late Sunday evening July 5th at St. John's Medical Center after an extended illness. She was born in Dandridge Tennessee on March 3rd, 1928 to Perry Cate and Ida Haynes. She was a housewife and was a former employee at Wise""s Smorgasbord in Honey Creek. She is proceeded in death by her parents, four brothers; Perry, Rob, Richard and Jim along with four sisters: Molly, Annabelle, Martha and Fern. Survivors include her husband,of 63 years, Howard Painter. Who has always been by her side. Four sons: Charles(Dorothy) Painter of Ft. Myers, Fla., Danny (Roxanne) Painter, of Middletown, Gary (Beverly) Painter of Middletown, and Mark (Kaye)Painter of Kathleen, Ga. Two brothers; Ray and Don Cate and three sisters; Della Pearl, Volo, and Bonnie all of Tennessee. Nine grandchildren and nine great grandchildren also survive along with special neices Betty Cate and Billie Brooks of Tennessee and several neices and nephews. Funeral services will be at the Ballard and Sons Funeral Home in Middletown on Thursday, July 9th at 2 PM with the Rev. Phil Rogers officiating.
