Gerald Wayne Levell, 68, of Anderson, passed away December 18th, 2023, at home surrounded by his family after an extended battle with cancer. He was born in Shelbyville, Indiana, to Lester and Ruth Parker Levell on September 27th, 1955.
He married Debra Swift on April 19th, 1987. He was preceded in death by his father, Lester, and brother, Jay Levell. He survived by his wife, Debbie; son, Chay; mother, Ruth; along with his siblings, Becky, Susan, Brenda, Kevin, Anita; and many nieces and nephews.
Working with his dad from a young age, Gerald learned carpentry. He was a wrestler, also the Captain and MVP of the Cross-Country team at Highland High School his senior year, graduating in ‘74. He enjoyed a lifelong passion for music, working as a DJ, collecting records, and often seen showing off his dance moves in some fancy shoes. Gerald was an artist, drawing realistic portraits of his favorite musicians, crafting sculptures out of beach wood and making nick-nacks out of scrap materials laying around in the garage.
After moving to Florida in 1990, he turned his carpentry knowledge into a career, supporting his family. Although he enjoyed the warm winters, after retirement, he and Debbie returned to Indiana in 2019 to enjoy a renewed closeness with family and old friends. Since his return, Gerald continued to make art, enjoyed seeing his mom on a regular basis, attended the occasional basketball game with his nephew Nathan and was fond of spending the day binge-watching shows.
Gerald was kind, caring and generous. His presence will be greatly missed.
