Middletown...Gene Farmer, 65, resident of Middletown, passed away at Miller's Merry Manor in Middletown after an extended illness.He was born in Shirley, Indiana, May 3, 1940, the son of Woodrow G. and Thelma Clevenger Mundell Farmer.He retired from Westinghouse in Muncie in 1980 after 19 years as a coil winder and had lived in Warsaw before moving back to Middletown.He was a member of the Middletown Lodge F & AM #271, the American Legion of Middletown, and was a former volunteer firefighter.He was a veteran of the US Navy.Survivors include 3 children: Roxanne (Shawn) Hiatt of Middletown, Brenda Farmer of Pierceton, IN, and Woodrow ""Woody"" Farmer of Middletown, 7 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild, 2 sisters: Dianne White of Middletown and Patsy (Rick) Conyers of Mooresville, several nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 brother, 1 sister, and his wife: Diane Kay (Blades) Farmer in 1995.Funeral services will be held on Monday at 10:30 AM at Ballard and Sons Funeral Home, 118 South 5th, Middletown, with Rev. Marty Ballard officiating.Burial will follow in Miller cemetery, Middletown.Friends may call on Sunday from 4-8 PM with Masonic Services at 8:00 PM.Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer association or the Southern Care Hospice of Muncie.Online Guestbook is available at: www.ballardandsons.com
