Middletown...Fredrick William Stewart, 81, resident of Middletown, passed away September 4, 2017 at St. Vincent's Regional Hospital in Anderson. He was born in Harlan, KY, August 24, 1936 the son of Fred and Emma Middleton Stewart. He retired as an Ironworker from Manor Brothers Construction.He was a member of the American Legion SAL for 36 years and served as First Vice President. He was a member of Ironworkers Local 22 for 50 years.He is survived by his wife: Gladys (Hensley) of Middletown, 2 children: Vernon of New Castle and Melissa Chandler (Phil) of Middletown, 5 grandchildren: Jake, Trevor (Kaleigh) and Courtney Stewart and Carly and Candy Chandler, 1 bro: Jimmy Wilder, 4 sisters: Freda Neff, Etta Bennett, Sue Hensley and Isha Smith, Daughter in law: Laura Stewart, several Nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 son: Dale and 2 brothers.A Celebration of his life will be held on Saturday at 1:00 PM at Ballard and Sons Funeral Home, 118 South 5th, Middletown with Pastor Marty Ballard officiating.Burial will follow in Mechanicsburg Cemetery.Friends may call on Saturday from 10:00 am until the time of the service.Online Guestbook at: www.ballardandsons.comMemorials may be made to the American Legion SAL or the Legion Woman's Auxillary.The Ballard family is honored to celebrate the life of Fred with family and friends.
