Anderson...Fred R. Jones, 78, resident of Anderson, died Friday evening at St. Johns Medical Center in Anderson. He was born in Albany, KY, August 28, 1926, the son of Frank and Mary Guffey Jones.He was a 1944 graduate of New Castle High School and a 1959 graduate of the International Barber School.He was a US Army Veteran of WW 2 serving in the Philippines.He worked for 13 years as a stock chaser for Delco Remy Plant 4.He worked for 31 years as a barber owning shops in the Mounds Mall, Applewood, the Miller Hotel and Southdale Plaza. He retired in 1990 after 31 years as a barber.He was a member of the Bethany Christian Church in Anderson where he had been superintendent of the Middler Department and taught a Beginners Sunday School class.He was an avid gardener and loved to fish.He was a member of the Daleville Masonic Lodge, the Knight Templar, and the Order of the Eastern Star #116 in New Castle.Survivors include his wife: Frieda (Young) of Anderson, 3 children: Juanita O'Neal (Barry) of Ft. Worth, TX, Andrew Jones (Gina) of Fishers, and Ann Welborne (Charles) of West LaFayette, IN, 1 sister: Joyce Rouse (Robert) of Marion, Stepsisters: Hilda Denny (Bill) of New Castle, Regina Wolcott (Bob) of New Castle and Wanda Ross of Des Moines, IA, 1 step brother: Gene Vincent (Mary) of Wittier, CA, 6 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his parent, 2 brothers 4 sisters, and 1 step brother.Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 10:00 am at Ballard and Sons Funeral Home, 8212 South Walnut Street, Daleville, with Revs. Bob Bell and Kent Stookey officiating.Burial will follow in Mechanicsburg Cemetery near Middletown.Friends may call at the Daleville Chapel on Tuesday from 3-8 with Masonic services at 7:00 PM.Memorial contributions may be made to the Imagine Fund of the Bethany Christian Church.Online Guestbook is available at:
