Middletown....Frankie Dipboye Koons 97, resident of Middletown passed away at the home he was born on August 10, 2021. He was born in Middletown, September 3, 1923, the son of William Oliver Koons and Callie Cummins Koons Hodson.
He was a 1941 graduate of Middletown High School and farmed all of his life. He retired from Chrysler Corporation in New Castle in 1980 after 30 years of service.
He was a member of the Middletown Community Church, a 60 year member of the Middletown Masonic Lodge, over 50 year member of the Royal Arch Masons, over 30 year member of the Scottish Rite Valley of Indianapolis and a 50 year member of the Order of the Eastern Star. He was a member of the UAW 371 of New Castle and was an active Shenandoah Band Booster and Daleville Sports fan.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Ellen Russell Koons, half sisters; Pauline Richwine and Helen Riggsby.
Survivors are his children Krista Koons-Ayres of Daleville and Kevin Koons of Middletown, 3 grandchildren Aaron Scott Ayres (Sara), Andrew Kyle Ayres (Melissa) and Alan Lee Ayres (Ashley), 5 great grandchildren: Evan Scott, Aiden Frankie, Emmerson Lee, Addison Marie and Ashton Lee Ayres. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Mildred Cannell and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 11:00 am at Ballard and Sons Funeral Home, 118 South 5th, Middletown with Pastor Andy Watkins officiating. Burial will follow at Miller Cemetery, Middletown.
Friends may call on Friday from 4-7 PM at the funeral home with Masonic services at 7:00 PM.
