Frank Leon Bernhardt

Daleville, IN ....Dr. Frank Leon Bernhardt, 79, resident of Punta Gorda, Florida, died Saturday at the residence of his daughter in Daleville.He was born in Fullerton, California, June 10, 1923, the son of Frank Yeager and Leona Rose Sims Bernhardt. He was a graduate of Ball State Teachers College in 1949 and received his Masters degree from the University of Iowa in 1951. In 1965, he earned his Doctor of Education degree from Indiana University.He taught science in several public school throughout the years.He taught science at Ball State University and Ft. Myers College as well as Edison Community College and Punta Gorda Community College. He was a member of Trinity Community Church in Daleville. He was a member of the American Legion of Punta Gorda, the Moose Lodge of Pt. Charlotte, the Eagles Lodge of Culver, the Elks Lodge of Port Charlotte, and the VFW of Culver.He was a sergeant in the US Army during WORLD WAR 2 and received honors for his effort in the European, African and Middle Eastern Service as well as Good Conduct, WW 2 Victory Medals, and the American Service Award.He had been preceded in death by his wife: Dorothy Dell Singer Bernhardt in 1985.Survivors include Children: Loren Dewayne (Jennifer) Bernhardt of Houston, TX, Philip Singer(Judy)Bernhardt of Glendale, AZ, Alana (Gary) Willis of Dalevile, Dale Allen Bernhardt of Muncie and Melinda Ann Bernhardt of Muncie, Companion: Cora Roberts of Punta Gorda, FL, Brother: Dr. Charles (Donna) Bernhardt of Culver, IN, 2 nieces and 1 nephew, 11 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren.Memorial services will be at 11:00 am Tuesday at Trinity Community Church, East of Daleville,IN on State Road 32, with Pastor Paul Pletcher and Rev.
