Middletown...Francis ""Cookie"" Mundell, 88, resident of Middletown area, passed away on Tuesday afternoon at Middletown Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Middletown.He was born April 30, 1916 in Springport, Indiana, the son of Floyd and Adda Ritchie Mundell.He was a 1935 graduate of Middletown High School and retired from Delco Remy in Anderson in 1974 after 37 years of service.He was a 50 year member of the Middletown Masonic Lodge and the Middletown Order of the Eastern Star. He belonged to the Scottish Rite, Valley of Indianapolis, Murat Shrine, York Rite and the Sulphur Spring Lions Club. He was on the Board of Directors of the Hancock Telecommunications, Corporation, and was a member of the the Honey Creek United Methodist Church since 1928. He had served as a trustee of the church for 54 years and was the oldest member. He had served as Chairman of the Board of Trustees and was formally Superintendent of the Sunday School.Survivors include 1 daughter: Judith Kirkpatrick of Sulphur Springs, and 1 son: James Edward (Nikki) Mundell of Middletown, a very special friend: Lillian Ritchie of Middletown, grandchildren: John Kirkpatrick of Middletown, Carrie Kirkpatrick of Indianapolis, Bob Mundell of Middletown, Tim Mundell of Reno, NV, Kim Mundell of Middletown, Susie Surber of Middletown, Andy Kidd of Anderson and Gena Kidd of Lafayette, Great grandchildren: Courtney Surber, Brittaney Surber, Ashley Surber, Joey Mundell, B J Mundell, Heather Mundell, Casey Kidd and Drew Kidd.He was preceded in death by his wife: L. Marian Mundell in 2001, 2 sons: Robert Mundell in 1995 and Jon Michael Mundell in 1956, and 1 granddaughter: Paula Sue Mitchell in 1966.Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Friday at Ballard and Sons Funeral Home, 118 South 5th, Middletown, with Pastor Cindy Rahn officiating.Burial will follow at Miller Cemetery in Middletown.Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM with Masonic Rites at 8:00 PM at the funeral home.Memorials may be made to the Sulphur Springs Fire Department or the Middletown EMS.Online Guestbook is available at:
