Daleville...Floyd C. McWilliams, 103, resident of Daleville, died Monday at Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie after a brief illness.He was born in Daleville, May 8, 1901, the son of Enos and Ella Cory McWilliams. He had been a WW 1 veteran in the US Army serving as Lieutenant in 335 Infantry division.He was a graduate of Daleville High School and attended Purdue and Ball State University. He was a graduate of the American institute of Banking and a member of the Daleville Christian Church, 55 year member of Kiwanis Club of Muncie, Muncie Elks #245, 75 year member of the Daleville Lodge F & AM, Murate Shrine of Indianapolis, Scottish Rite, Valley of Indianapolis he had served as Past Lientenant Governor of the Kiwanis.He worked for many years in Banking with Merchants Bank. He began his career at Comercial Bank in Daleville in 1922 and with Merchants Bank in 1926 as a bookkeeper. He became Auditor of Merchants National Bank and Merchants Trust Company in 1945. In 1958 he became Senior Vice President and Secretary of the Board of Directors of Merchants Bank.In 1966 he retired after over 40 years of service in banking.He served as a deacon and council president of the Daleville Christian Church and was awarded Elder Emeritus of the church in 1984.Survivors include: 1 son: Gary Kent (Nancy Ann-Redding) McWilliams of Indianapolis and 1 daughter: Carolyn Nelson of Indianapolis, grandchildren: Linda Sue Nelson Ash (DAvid) of High Point, NC, Jill Everhart (James) of Carmel, IN, Ann Marie McWilliams-Pleiss (DAvid) of Indianapolis, and Duane A Nelson (Tara) of Indianapolis, 4 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren, and 1 niece.He was preceded in death by his wife Josephine Mae Bowers Mcwilliams, his parents, 2 sisters and 1 brother.Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 10:30 am at Daleville Christian Church with Rev. Gary McManus and Rev. David McCracken officiating.Burial will follow at Elm Ridge Cemetery in Muncie.Friends may call at the Ballard and Sons Funeral Home, 8212 South Walnut Street, Daleville, on Wednesday from 5-9 PM.Memorials may be made to the Daleville Christian Church.Online Guestbook is available at:
