Ethel I. (Manis, Featherston) King died peacefully on February 22, 2023 in her apartment at the Primrose Independent Living Retirement Community. She was born April 29th, 1922 in Middletown, Indiana to Virgil and Mae (Good) Manis. She graduated from Anderson High School in 1941, and lived in the Anderson area all her life.
She married Donald Featherston on September 12th, 1941. He was killed on December 2nd, 1950 in a car accident. In 1961 she married Donald King, to whom she was married for 50 years, until his death in 2012. She worked at Delco Remy (plants 4,6, 7, & 11) from 1950 until 1980. Ethel was a Charter Member of the American Business Women’s Association, serving for over 50 years in various roles and starting several new chapters. She also enjoyed membership in the Lady Elks Chapter # 209. After retirement, Ethel spent her summers in Anderson and wintered in Leesburg, Florida. She enjoyed sewing, crafts, dancing, reading and being with her friends.
She is survived by her son Douglas (Holly) Featherston, two grandchildren Dana Shepherd and Denise Featherston, two great-grandchildren John Shaffer and Lilly (Nick) Simison, two great-great-grandchildren, Maelyn and Theo and her sister Rozella Foist.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands Donald Featherston and Donald King, sisters Betty Manis, Hazel Ridge, and her brother Ivan Manis.
Visitation will be held at our Middletown Chapel March 1st from 11 a.m. -12 p.m. Graveside Services will be held at 12:20 p.m. on March 1, 2023 at Miller’s Cemetery in Middletown Indiana.
