Earl Eugene Howard

Earl Eugene Howard, 91, of Middletown, passed away Friday, June 24, 2022. He was born on October 10, 1930, in Anderson to the late Earl Rufus and Eulalia (Lakey) Howard.
Earl was a Veteran of the United States Navy serving 3 tours of duty. He retired from Delco Remy where he was a Tool Maker and Project Manager. He was a proud recipient of the Lifetime Membership to the Middletown American Legion. Earl enjoyed spending time collecting antique wrenches and hammers, buying any that looked especially old or odd and he would spend hours researching to see what its intended use was for and when it was made. He also enjoyed woodworking, whittling, bowling, square dancing, and hunting as well as traveling the country.
Earl is survived by his wife, Carolyn (Scothorn) Howard; his daughters, Cricket Bridges and Stephanie DeLoughery; his grandchildren, Carrie (Scott) Simpson, Amy Riggs, Aaron DeLoughery, Matthew DeLoughery, Mandy (Andrew) Miller; six great grandchildren, Taylor (Jordan) Kimble, Lillian (Steven) Cherry, Callie Miller, Asher Miller, Grant Riggs, Clay Riggs and five great-great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Earl was preceded in death by his four brothers, Don, Pete, Bill and Bob Howard; his son,Rick Howard; granddaughter, Jessica Howard; great grandson, Carson Clark and great-great Grandson, Bentley Cherry.
Services will be held at 12:30 pm Wednesday, June 29, 2022, at Ballard and Sons Funeral Home in Middletown. Visitation will be from 11:00 am until the time of service. Burial will follow at Mechanicsburg Cemetery with Military Honors.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the Middletown American Legion.
