Middletown...Earl D. Carter, Sr., 77, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on October 30, 2004 at St. Johns Medical Center in Anderson after a short illness.He was born December 28, 1926 in Livingston, TN, Overton County, the son of Earl T. and Hattie Ann Garrett Carter.He married Gloria A. Stevenson Carter in April of 1964 and were the parents of three children.Earl worked for General Motors Delco Remy for 40 years and was an avid gardener. He is a member of the UAW Local 662 of Anderson and a member of the Middletown Church of the Nazarene.He was a WW 2 Veteran.He is survived by his wife of 41 years: Gloria of Middletown, 1 daughter: Mary A. (Bob) Vernon of Noblesville, 2 sons: Earl D. Carter, Jr. of Middletown and James Earl (Judy) Carter of Livingston, TN, grandsons: Jason and Travis Carter of Livingston, TN, and Damon R. Smith of Noblesville, a special neighbor and friend: Jerry Gibson of Middletown, several nieces and nephews and cousins, Sisters: Genieve Ramsey of Livingston, TN, Mavis Bilbrey of Ingalls, and Carlene Knoblock of Anderson.He was preceded in death by 4 brothers: Joe, Larry, Robert, and Gerald Carter of Livingston, TN as well as his parents and 1 sister, Wanda Knoblock.Funeral services will be Wednesday at 11:00 am at the Middletown Church of the Nazarene Family Center, 698 North 5th Street, Middletown with Pastor David Whitteberry officiating assisted by Dr. Philip C.
