Middletown...Duane Lee Laurie, 80, resident of Middletown, passed away at Miller Merry Manor in Middletown on Monday.He was born in Anderson, August 16, 1930, the son of Jim and Opal Laurie.He was a veteran of US Navy and retired from Delco Remy in Anderson in 1980 after 30 years of service.He was a member of the UAW 662, the Middletown Church of the Nazarene and coached for many years in Middletown Little League and Babe Ruth Baseball.He was an avid Chicago Cubs fan.He was a season ticket holder for Shenandoah and Middletown basketball for over 49 years.Survivors include a daughter: Cheryl Sylvester (Mike) of Lapel, 2 sons: Brian (Charlene) of Sulphur Springs and Steve of New CAstle, 8 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren, 2 sisters: Betty Jo Sweighart of Elkhart and billie Lou Barber (Joe) of Chesterfield, several nieces and nephews.Funeral services will be held on Friday at 10:00 am at Ballard and Sons Funeral Home, 118 South 5th, Middletown with Dr. Philip C. Rogers and Rev. Marty Ballard officiating.Burial will follow in Miller Cemtery in Middletown.Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 4-8 PM.Memorials may be made to Shenandoah Athletic Department.Online Guestbook at: www.ballardandsons.com
