A memorial and burial service will be held for Dr. Robert Joseph Jameson on Saturday, September 9th at 2:30 p.m. at the Mechanicsburg cemetery.He is survived by his wife Jan Jameson; his two daughters Michelle (husband David Fisher) and Renee (husband Rand Lennox); his grandchildren Kaylee, Grace, and Robbie; his brother Jerry Jameson; and his three sisters Judy Ingram, Susy Ramsey, and Nancy Mohan.He was born in New Castle, Indiana in 1944, the son of Von Jameson and Beatrice (Biery) Jameson.In his early years, he would deliver papers while growing up in Middletown and attending Middletown High School where he met his wife, Jan Glentzer. Joe played basketball for the Middletown Cossacks, a team his father coached, from 1958 to 1962.Dr. Jameson received a full four-year athletic scholarship to Purdue University and played basketball for the Boilermakers until he graduated with distinction with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1966. He twice received the Ward Lambert trophy, awarded to the student with the highest scholastic achievement. He was also a member of Phi Gamma Delta.He married Jan in 1966, and they resided in Indianapolis where he attended medical school.Dr. Jameson graduated from the Indiana University School of Medicine in 1970. He joined the United States Air Force and served as a flight surgeon in Vietnam until 1976.Dr. Jameson, Jan, and their two daughters moved to Muncie, Indiana in 1978 where he opened an otolaryngology practice and retired in 2006.
