Anderson...Dr. H. Duane Ratliff, 68, resident of Anderson, died Sunday morning at St. Johns Medical Center in Anderson unexpectedly.He was born May 8, 1936 in Middletown, Indiana, the son of Elbert V. and Vivian Loudenback Ratliff.He had lived in Middletown for many years and was former owner of Valley View Golf Course. He was a member of the Sixth Street Christian Church and a 1954 graduate of Middletown High School 1954 and attended Purdue University pre-veterinarian school before graduating from Iowa State University in 1960.He was a member of the John Purdue Club and was a Licensed Veterinarian for Hoosier Park in Anderson. He was a member of the Indiana Veterinary Medical Association and the Iowa State University Alumni as well as Sigma Chi Fraternity of Iowa State.He was a member of the Indiana Association of Equine Practioners and the Indiana Quarter Horse Association.He loved blue grass music, horses, travelling, photography, leather tooling, John Deere Tractors, trap shooting, reading and team roping.Survivors include his wife: Donnetta Ratliff of Anderson, 1 son: Jim (Heather) Ratliff of Kalamazoo, MI and 1 daughter: Michelle (Bob) Walters of Zionsville, Indiana, 1 sister: Cheryl Tichenor of Middletown. Also six grandchildren: Andrew, Michael, Benjamin, and Rachel Walters of Zionsville and Samuel and Molly Ratliff of Kalamazoo.Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 10:00 am at Ballard and Sons Funeral Home, 118 South 5th, Middletown with Rev. Maynard Powell officiating.Burial will follow in Miller Cemetery in MIddletown.Friends may call on Tuesday from 3-8 PM at the funeral home.Memorial contributions may be made to the Shenandoah Dollers for Scholars through the Henry County Foundation or the Sixth Street Christian Church.Online Guestbook is available at: www.ballardandsons.com
