Dora M. Slick

Middletown...Dora (Matheny) Slick, 97 of Middletown, passed away on September 9, 2010 at Middletown Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, after an extended illness.She was born January 17, 1913 in Nelsonville, Ohio, the daughter of Nathan and Dora Conn Matheny.She was a telephone operator for Ohio Bell until marrying Jack Slick on November 23, 1942 and moving to Middletown.She was a member of the Sixth Street Christian Church in Middletown where she was active in the Christian womens Fellowship. She was a 50 year member of the Order of the Eastern Star and belonged to the auxiliary of the United Transportation Union.She is survived by a daughter: Jacqueline Harris (Howard Manford) of Shirley, two grandchildren: Kevin Harris of Jeffersonville and Kimberly Hutcheson (Mason) of Anderson, several nieces and nephews and many special friends.She was preceded in death by her husband Jack in 1975, her parents and eight brothers and sisters.Funeral services will be held on Monday at 11:00 am at the Sixth Street Christian Church in Middletown with Rev. Maynard Powell officiating.Burial will follow in Miller Cemtery in Middletown.Friends may call at the Ballard and Sons Funeral Home, 118 South 5th, Middletown on Sunday from 3-7 PM with OES memorial services at 7:00 PM.Memorial contributions may be made to the Sixth Street Christian Church, PO Box 26, Middletown, IN.The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the nurses and staff at the Middletown Nursing and rehabilitation Center for their excellent care they gave Dora.Online Guestbook at: www.ballardandsons.com
