Middletown...Donald J. Owens, 70. passed away May 25, 2010 at St. Johns Medical Center in Anderson. He was born May 7, 1940 in Muncie, IN, the son of Charles H. and Blendena (Austin) Owens.He grew up in Muncie-Portland area and spent the last years of his life in Middletown.Don graduated in 1958 from Gov. I.P. Gray school in Jay County and served three years in the US Army from 1961-1964. He was stationed in Darmstadt, Germany for two years as Company Clerk of the 29th Army Postal Unit.He retired from Delphi, Plant 11 in 2004 after 39.2 years of service and was a proud member of the UAW Local 662 where he served in several elected offices. He served as Community Service Chairman for over 20 years.He was a member of the Retiree Chapter and the jay County Historical Society.Survivors include his daughter and best friend: Melissa D. O'Banion (Jason) of Middletown, adopted son: Vernon Owens of Anderson, Twin Brother: Tom L. Owens (Barbara) of Muncie, Nephew: Allan Owens, Nieces: kathy Murphy, Joan Owen, Debbie Owens, and special cousin: Mary Alice Lindsey.He was proceeded in death by his parents and a brother: Charles R. Owens.Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 1:00 PM at Ballard and Sons Funeral Home, 118 South 5th, Middletown with Rev. Marty Ballard of the Yorktown Church of the Nazarene officiating.Burial will follow in Mt.
