It is with deep regret that we announce the passing of Donald Keith Cumins. Don passed away on Oct. 15th, 2020 of Covid-19 pneumonia. He was born Jan. 13th, 1935 in Fort Recovery, OH but grew up in Westfield, In. At 17 years old he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps and spent 2 years fighting for our country in the Korean Conflict. He married his wife, Mary Louise (Barker) Cumins, also from Westfield, who retired from Muncie Battery. They later resided in Sulphur Springs and Mechanicsburg, IN.
He retired from Delco Remy in Anderson and was a life-long member of the American Legion.
He enjoyed buying and selling antiques. The knowledge he acquired will be missed by many. As he got older, most people will remember him in bib overalls driving around in his truck with his Airedale dog Ike and then Sunnie.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Wesley and Ada and still living are his brothers Ken (Linda) Cumins, Wesley (Isabelle,) Cumins and his sister Kate (George) Gominger. He leaves behind his wife, Mary (Barker) Cumins and both lived in Anderson. His four daughters, who adored him, are Beth (Mark) Strahan, Monica (Brent) Goodwin, Charity (Todd) Perkins, and Holly (Tim) Elliott. He also leaves behind 9 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
He was a very generous man to many, very patriotic and adored his family. He later in life became a Christian and God took him with such a gentle, loving hand.
Memorial services will be held on November 12, 2020 at !:00 PM at Ballard and Sons Funeral Home, 118 South 5th, Middletown with Pastor Lawrence Smith officiating. Burial will follow with military rites at Mechanicsburg Cemetery.
Friends may call one hour before the service at the funeral home.
