Dixie Lee Amonett

Dixie Lee (Rector) Amonett. Resident of Anderson passed away October 8, 2022 at Willowbend Living Center in Muncie after a ten-year battle with dementia. She was born in Anderson, Indiana on November 29, 1952, the daughter of Rev. Jack and Virginia Cox Rector.

Dixie was a graduate of Shenandoah High School (1970) and received her BS and MA in elementary education from Ball State University. She taught for over 27 years as a Kindergarten teacher for Anderson Community Schools. She was a member of Bethany Christian Church for over 40 years.
She was preceded in death by her father; and grandparents, John and Iva Rector.
Dixie is survived by her husband, Larry; daughters, Laura Hargrave and Kristin Miller; son-in-laws, Scott Miller and John Hargrave; sister, Debra (Wayne) Masterson; and a brother, John (Lanie) Rector; grandchildren, grandchildren, Luke and Benjamin Hargrave and Jack and Olivia Miller; her mother, Virginia Rector.

A celebration of her life will be held on Thursday, October 13, 2022 at 5:00 PM at Bethany Christian Church, 1920 Rangeline Road, Anderson, IN with Pastor Bob Bell officiating. Friends may call at the church from 2:00 PM until the time of the service. In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Bethany Christian Church Music Department, 1920 Rangeline Road, Anderson, IN 46012. Arrangements have been entrusted to Ballard and Sons Funeral Home in Middletown, IN.
