Diana Larayne Harney

Anderson...Diana Harney said her last good-byes and departed this life on July 10, 2007, in the serenity of her garden with the sun rise. She was born August 5, 1945 and was a life long resident of Anderson. She shared her life with her husband, Doug, of 43 years.She worked as a pre-school teacher at Mrs Hanna's in Middletown, IN, and was an assistant to Gary A. Young, Chiropractor and retired from the Mediation Department of the Community Justice Center in Anderson.Her many accomplishments included: being a 31 year member and former Indiana State Council President of Epsilon Sigma Alpha International-Alpha Omega chapter charter member, serving on the Epilepsy foundation board, serving many years on the Victim's Rights Week activities and Child Abuse Prevention committees, being a 1993 honoree of the International Who's Who of Professional and Business Women, and touching the lives of everyone she met in a very special way.She recently became the ""class mom"" to a small group of ladies known as ""The Sisterhood"" at Indiana Business College. She loved gardening, embroidery, and cherished her grandchildren.Diana spent every day, up to the very end, teaching those around her the joy and beauty of life and all it has to offer.She was preceded in death by her parents: Adrian Earl Smith and Harriett Alice (Keesling) Robertson, step father and mentor: Thomas L. Robertson, special friend and sister-in-law: Janet Smith and Special Friend: Anita Marceille Kemple, ""Miss Daisy"".Left behind to continue her lagacy are her husband: Doug Harney, daughter: Angie (Kevin) Kemple, grandchildren: Aaron Edward (Jessica) Lyle, Geoffrey Lewis-Ernest Sargent, and Christopher Ian-Rhodes Sargent, great grandson: Jake Lyle, Sister: Melinda Sue (Ebert) Parter of Raymondville, TX, Brother: Walter Earl (Christy) Smith of Indianapolis, several nieces and nephews and many friends.In lieu of flowers and memorial contributions, Diana requested that each person she has had an inpact on ""Pay it Forward.""Services will be held on Friday at 7:00 PM at Ballard and Sons Funeral Home, 8212 South Walnut Street, Daleville officiated by long time friend and fellow ESAer, Carolyn Shaw, Diana's daughter, Angie, Michelle Fadely, Kelly Dossett, Phyllis Boener and Michelle Caldwell.Friends my call from 4:00 pm until the time of the service on Friday at the funeral home.Online Guestbook at: www.ballardandsons.com
