Daleville...Delmar Humbert, Jr., 76, resident of Daleville, died early Tuesday morning at The Woodlands Nursing Home in Muncie after an extended illness.He was born in Muncie, June 23, 1927, the son of Delmer and Margaret Redwine Humbert, Sr. He had been a heavy duty equipment operator of over 30 years. He was a US Army Veteran of WW 2 holding the rank of Sargent. He was a member of the Daleville Christian Church, Daleville Masonic Lodge #730, Scottish Rite Valley of Indianapolis, Murat Shrine of Indianapolis, Yorktown Lions Club member for 20 years, Daleville Lions Club, Belgium Draft Horse Association, Operating Engineers Local 103 and was part owner of Nelson/Humbert Excavating Company.Survivors include his wife: Doris Gindhart-Humbert of Daleville, 2 sons: Steven J. Humbert of Yorktown and Wm. ""Bill"" Humbert Amos (Paula) of Muncie, 3 brothers: Donald Humbert (Phyliss) of Farmland, John Humbert (Nancy) of Selma and Tom Humbert (Judy) of Muncie, 4 grandchildren: Stephanie Ann Humbert and Travis Austin Humbert of Muncie, and Julie and Brad Amos of Muncie, 1 great grandchild: Reggie Amos of Muncie, Stepchildren: David Gindhart of Oklahoma, Teresa Palmer of Marion, Michael Gindhart of Chicago and Marcia Swindell of Alexandria, several step grandchildren and step great grandchildren.He was preceded in death by three sisters: Bessie Humbert, Bonnie Patterson, and Barbara Fruit.Funeral services will be held on Friday at 2:00 PM at the Daleville Christian Church.Burial will follow at Hawk Cemetery near Yorktown.Friends may call at the Ballard and Sons Funeral Home, 8212 South Walnut Street, Daleville on Thursday from 5-9 PM with Masonic memorial services held at 7:00 PM at the funeral home.Memorials may be made to the Daleville/Salem Township EMS.Online Guestbook is available at:
