David Whitmire

David Whitmire, 81, of Middletown, passed away on Friday November 24, 2023, at his home. He was born in Muncie on December 24, 1941, to the late David Hunter and Golden Alberta (Clark) Whitmire.

A proud Veteran of the United Stated Marine Corps, David served his country from 1959- 1964 and was a member of the Daleville American Legion. David was the first graduating class in the new Daleville High School. He was a Devout Christian in the Wesleyan Church and an Ordained Minister. He worked for Westinghouse Electrical Supply as the Branch Manager and retired after 44 years of service. David also worked at Goodwill where he enjoyed talking to customers when they came in. When David was a young boy, he loved working at his grandpa’s apple orchard. He was a proud papaw and loved being around his family.

David is survived by his daughters, Erin (Doarn) Mangold, Kelli Whitmire, Nonis (Edward) Spinner and Shannon Whitmire; grandchildren, Cory Mangold, Zachary Mangold, Tawnee Mangold, Noah (Lilly) Mangold, Bella Mangold, Ike (Kiara) Boyd, Izreal Boyd, Xavier (Megan) Spinner and Zion Spinner; great grandchildren, Leivy Boyd, Jaxisyn Boyd and Noa Boyd.

In addition to his parents, David is preceded in death by his wife, Madeline Gail Whitmire.

A memorial service for David will be on Saturday December 9, 2023, at 1:00 pm at Crossroads Lutheran Church 9700 W. CR 700 S. Middletown, IN 47356 with Pastor Reggie Horner officiating. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to Crossroads Lutheran Church. Services have been entrusted to Ballard and Sons Funeral Home Daleville, IN.
